The Call for Proposals for The Positive Action for Girls and Women Fund is now open!

Positive Action for Girls and Women aims to tackle the harmful practices and norms that limit the aspirations of girls and women and increase their vulnerability to HIV.  We fund projects which focus on the reducing the commoditisation of girls as well as supporting projects and organisations that advocate for girls and women.

This call is focused on non-governmental and community-based organisations that can deliver change at a community level thanks to their links with or representation of the communities affected. Please note: the maximum funding available is £50,000 over two years. Please refer to the PAGW Guidance Notes for comprehensive guidance on developing your application, the review process and FAQs:

PAGW invites applications on a rolling basis throughout 2016. Applications will be reviewed at quarterly Board meetings throughout the year during 2016. Closing dates for each quarter will generally be about 6 weeks before each board meeting. Specific application deadlines will be available on the online application system.

The closing date for all applications for next review is 23:59 GMT on Thursday 15th September 2016. Applications submitted after this time will not be accepted.

Submitting Your Application 

Please submit your application via our online application system. If you have previously registered on the PACF Salesforce system, please use your existing log in details here. If you have not previous registered,please follow this linkIf you have previously registered on Salesforce, you must log in via the first link to go through the Salesforce system, otherwise a duplicate record will be created for your organisation. The system will prompt you to complete a Concept Note outlining the problem your organisation is trying to address, how you will address this problem and your capabilities to respond. Please ensure you complete this form in full (with all required attachments) and that it meets our application criteria outlines in the Guidance Notes.

Specific Topics

  • Community leadership to improve knowledge of and access to appropriate sexual and reproductive health information and services in early adolescence
  • Reducing incidence of and ending community acceptance of early marriage, forced marriage and relationships of power imbalance
  • Community interventions to end sexual and gender based violence, particularly amongst adolescent girls
  • Community initiatives that support HIV positive adolescent girls to access appropriate SRH information and services; and reduce HIV related stigma and discrimination that may lead to vulnerability for these girls
  • Community advocacy that address punitive laws and policies that put adolescent girls at risk of harassment, violence and/or arrest by the police, including girls in key populations

The PAGW supports approaches that demonstrate the PAGW values. Applicants should demonstrate how their proposals meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Addresses harmful practices that leads to health/HIV risk
  • Promoting rights of girls
  • Build aspiration and opportunities to escape poverty for adolescent girls
  • Enhance information about and access to SRH services
  • Advocacy
  • Demonstrating Impact (Monitoring and Evaluation)
  • Addresses root causes. 

Review Process

Your Concept Note will be assessed for its adherence to the focus of the PAGW project criteria outlined in the Guidance Notes, with particular importance placed on its relevance to the five PAGW topic areas prioritised for this call.

Concept Notes meeting these criteria will be reviewed by the Board at the board meeting scheduled immediately following submission, keeping in mind submission deadlines. Submissions made after the deadline but before a Board meeting, will be rolled over to the Board review meeting.
