The Red Cross Red Crescent European Youth Network gathers National Societies’ Youth from Europe and Central Asia. It was established in 1978 and is thereby the oldest of the existing Red Cross Red Crescent Youth Networks.

Main goal

To inspire, encourage, facilitate and promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities by National Societies, with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering, and thereby contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world. The Network works toward reaching this main goal by focusing on three main functions: knowledge management, advocacy and community building.

Over the last thirty four years the Red Cross Red Crescent European Youth Network has contributed to further strengthen member National Societies Youth structures and Youth action through providing a platform for sharing relevant knowledge, ideas and experiences among Youth representatives from Europe Zone.

The Red Cross Red Crescent European Youth Network holds a meeting every two years called the European Youth Cooperation Meeting of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

This meeting allows young leaders of Red Cross and Red Crescent from across Europe and Central Asia to meet and discuss issues that are affecting youth today. The meeting also sees the election of a the European Youth Coordination Committee (EYCC), who is in charge for ensuring the follow-up of the outcomes of the meeting, organizing the next Network meeting, and facilitating the sharing of good practices and advocating on behalf of the member National Societies in order to strengthen their youth activities and do more, do better and reach further for people living in situations of vulnerability within the European Zone.
